Alex + Josh celebrated their love with all their friends and family at Calistoga Ranch last summer – and we are beyond pleased to see that their fab-u-lous wedding has just been featured on Green Wedding Shoes. We were so pleased to see this wedding featured on Style Me Pretty last week!

Alice and Matthias’s 2016 wedding was one for the books, jam packed with subtle, but stunning details and overall sophistication. We are so proud to have been invited to contribute to the beauty with our floral designs!

We travelled to the edge of South America to say ‘I DO’ or rather ‘Si Mi Amor, Por Siempre’ and can’t even believe it has been year!!  Love seeing this feature in {Destination I Do} where you can read the full story and see more beautiful details.  The entire setting and experience was captured by the talented San Francisco-based photographer, {Myleen Hollero Photography}, swoooon!

MYHO1194Go ahead,PIN IT!MYHO2219Go ahead,PIN IT!We worked with {Aerialist Press} to design the invitations, wedding map and event signage. I knew I wanted to add a touch of something unique to the invitations, so I sourced tribal inspired fabric appliques at Britex and a bit of handiwork brought it all together. MH_20319Go ahead,PIN IT!Pops of color against the neutral landscape were the best way to bring a bit of personality and life to the celebration, while still allowing the local ambiance to come through fully. MH_20657Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_20665Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_20673Go ahead,PIN IT!We chose a humble setting on the beach, which was perfect, although its true that this was a location was chosen two days prior to the wedding as the other beach location had washed out due to beach erosion.  The small town’s mayor was luckily happy to let chose a new location of our choice. As they say with destination weddings, be flexible!MH_20820Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_20826Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_20995Go ahead,PIN IT!MYHO1519Go ahead,PIN IT!

One of the hardest parts for me was selecting my dress.  I had never really envisioned myself in white or ivory, I’ve always been a vibrant color person despite loving all the neutral weddings we do.  So on a whim I saw this dress from {BCBG Max Azira}, while out and about shopping one day and immediately felt a sign of relief, thinking: “Phew, there IS a coral dress that fits ME and flows effortlessly.”  To my surprise, it was a fun modern color block design with a coral front, blush side panels and a fuchsia back, LOVE!  The finishing touch was a rose gold sash from {BHLDN} and all was good in the world.
MH_20600Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_20567Go ahead,PIN IT!The wedding reception was held a renowned restaurant, {La Huella}, tucked in the sand dunes of Jose Ignacio, Uruguay.  The food was absolutely incredible with passed, small plate style service including many wood oven and fire grilled bites.   It is no surprise with local San Francisco connections, to Zuni Cafe and Luna Park Restaurant, that La Huella is much more than a beachside restaurant, but a culture and way of being in South America.  All things rustic chic!

MYHO2493Go ahead,PIN IT!Creating the florals and decor in Uruguay were a bit of a challenge.  But was more than half the fun!  With our planning trip four months prior to the wedding, we brought specialty candle holders, linens and pillow cases and researched local florals and fauna.  As you can see, a blend of flowering bouganvillea with plant textures was the ultimate floral design and we accented the rustic wood furnishings with tribal textiles.MH_21103Go ahead,PIN IT!MH_21108Go ahead,PIN IT!

Every year the de Young Museum floods with floral genius and magic, where floral designers are assigned a piece of artwork from which to create a floral masterpiece.  Designers will interpret, mimic or reflect the essence of the art through their floral design, crafting and engineering skills to work create works of floral art.

This year’s assignment was the highly regarded painting, ‘The Niagra River at the Cataract’ by Gustav Grunewald.  The sheer size of the paintings is stunning, spanning over 7′ in height.  I chose to reflect the essence of the spilling drama and layers of the falls in my piece.

This past week our local favorite maker and manufacturer organization, SFMade, hosted a trailblazing event at Pier 70:  Bay Area Urban Manufacturing Summit.  The luncheon was a gathering of manufacturers, urban planning experts and local leaders including Mayor Ed Lee (San Francisco), Mayor Sam Liccardo (San Jose), Mayor Bill Harrion (Fremont) and our amazing friend, go girl!!, Annie Campbell Washington (Oakland).  Of the 400+ guests in attendance were some of the best of our local community like Heath Ceramics, Timbuk2 and Pinterest.

To enhance the event, we crafted colorful, textured centerpieces and accent plant displays that incorporated reclaimed pieces of the Golden Gate bridge by artist, Ricard Bulan, from Golden Gate Bride Furniture.
