Getting More From Your Flowers

September 14th, 2011

Guests often ask us what will happen to the flowers at the end of an event. We are happy to report that there are many options and one of our favorites is to donate them to local schools and organizations. How can you become a part of what will happen to your wedding or event flowers at the end of the night? One popular Bay Area planner asked us just that. Here is an excerpt from the blog interview Emily gave to Michelle of {Dream A Little Dream Events} on how to make your wedding day a time to give.

Emily has graciously offered this advice to couples interested in donating their arrangements:

-Be realistic about the amount of flowers you are donating. Smaller organizations may only be able to accommodate 5 to 8 arrangements.

-Contact the organization in advance to ensure the donation is something they can accept as certain fragrant flowers are discouraged. Examples include lilies, hyacinth and varieties of blooming branches.

-If your vases are rented make sure the arrangements are transferred to inexpensive vases or mason jars prior to delivery.

Happy Donating,

More Holiday Cheer!

December 26th, 2010

Even after Christmas, I love remembering all the sparkles and wintergreens we had the chance to incorporate into our holiday designs. Here are some more colorful snapshots from our December festivities and holiday parties.

Vibrant reds with sparkling fuchsia

Winter holiday florals for our accounts

Madonna called, she wants her sequins back!

As we near the New Year, we start playing with bold winter combinations like fuchsia and plum in modern white vessels with grey or white foliage all to tie into the coming winter months: January and February. As we all know, the first few months of the year tend to be the dreariest and sometimes the all together gloomiest of the entire year. That being said, I encourage our clients to bring in bold cool tones to liven up their home or office and beat the ‘winter blues.’ I love this photo for capturing that look and feel, I’m already pondering how to refresh my holiday decor with some bold winter replacements.

Plum and fuchsia with blue spruce!

Before you pack up your holiday decorations and roll out something ‘NEW’ for the year ahead, it is important to toast and give thanks for all that has been in 2010! Cheers to you and yours -may 2011 bring you joy and abundance!!

Wheat grass for all of us!

July 30th, 2010

Wheat grass is a wonderful, healthy centerpiece option for you and your guests! It is quite easy to cultivate yourself and also an inexpensive option for your floral designer to provide. Following your event the grass can be washed, juiced and added to a smoothie or shake for a boost of vitamins and minerals. We love a little bit of extra wheat grass in the studio for our team to stay healthy and enlivened!
